To register an out of province vehicle you must pass a “safety inspection.”
Now that I have working gauges, my chances of passing the inspection have increased.
However, I am still wondering if you can sneak by with a modified exhaust and check engine light that is always “on” due to a evap leak problem.
If anyone here knows...let me know. I am hoping they just go “exhaust....check”....and see that the car has a muffler. Of sorts.
Nissan NX (remember these?!?!) for your time.

Just about nil. If you even have a small chip in your windshield, they’ll fail you. However, if you have a vehicle that is a BC car, even if it was sitting in a barn for 30 years, you don’t have to get it inspected before you can insure and register it.

I don’t have any chips unless so small it can’t even be seen by the naked eye.
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

Not if it’s as stringent as Ontario inspections.

You won’t pass. Muffler laws are subjective, and you’ll fail with any codes on the dash, or any warning bulbs out.

Ok, I’ll just go ahead and cancel my appt then. I’ll phone them first thing tomorrow. No point in paying to fail.

Exactly. Even if you have tint on your front side windows, they will fail you. Same with any corrosion that may be deemed structural. That’s why we left the Echo in Ontario.

This car got passed in Ontario with the same muffler (or lack thereof) that is has now. Also I passed emissions in ontario last year with the same evap leak. LOOL.

I don’t have any structural corrosion. I have oil sprayed meticulously.

I just sold my NX 1600. I miss it already. Although I wish it had been an NX 2000. But, it did have a digital dash that would jibe with Oppo’s new masthead despite being from the 90's.

I phoned them and asked if an evap leak is an automatic fail. It is. The plan then is to “fix” it so it won’t show up for a few weeks.

We OOP both of our Mk2 Jettas when we moved back from AB, it wasn’t a problem but they were both fine. Mine was pretty modified - the techs at HubCity liked it..
